Phi Phi Island is home to some truly amazing beaches. While a few are easy to reach by footpaths or roads, others are only accessible by boat or kayak.

I’ve put together the ultimate guide to the most stunning beaches and bays on Koh Phi Phi — plus exactly how you can get to each one.

Lo Ba Kao Bay

#5 Loh Ba Kao Bay

Loh Ba Kao Bay is one of my favorite hiking spots on the island. You can reach it in about an hour by trekking over the Phi Phi Don viewpoint — a scenic route with great views.

If hiking isn’t your thing, or if you want to avoid the jungle and its cheeky monkeys, simply take a taxi boat. It’ll get you there in about 30 minutes.

The beach stretches out in front of the Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort, and nearby there’s a small village where you can grab lunch and stock up on chilled beers. The whole area has a relaxed, laid-back vibe — even more peaceful than much of the rest of Phi Phi Island.

Long Beach

#4 Long Beach

Just a 30-minute walk or a quick 5-minute ride by taxi boat from the main town, Long Beach is by far one of the best spots on the island for swimming and snorkeling. The water here is deeper than in most of Phi Phi’s other shallow bays, making it perfect for all-day dips and ideal for a full beach day.

Tip: If you’re up for a short stroll, walk about 15 minutes over the hill from Long Beach to discover Loh Moo Dee Beach — a quieter spot with fantastic snorkeling, especially during high tide.

Maya Bay

#3 Maya Bay

Of course, no trip to Koh Phi Phi is complete without visiting the world-famous Maya Bay — the iconic beach featured in The Beach movie.

The best time to visit is early in the morning, before the crowds arrive from Phuket and Krabi. This way, you can fully enjoy the beauty of the bay in a more peaceful setting and take in its turquoise waters, towering cliffs, and soft white sand without the hustle.

Travel Tip: When staying in Koh Phi Phi, it’s helpful to be aware of the sea levels and tides, especially since some of the bays have very shallow waters at low tide. Before planning your beach or snorkeling activities, check the tide times—you can ask a local or look it up online on WorldTides.com

Bamboo Island

#2 BAMBOO ISLAND

Bamboo Island is a real dream beach for beach-lovers. Located about 8 km from the main village of Phi Phi Don, the only way to reach it is by boat—but trust me, it’s worth every minute of the ride.

This island offers a stunning contrast to the dramatic cliffs and rocky bays of Phi Phi. It’s completely flat, surrounded by powdery white sand and crystal-clear turquoise water. Every time I visit, I fall in love all over again. It’s pure tropical paradise.

Bamboo Island is part of the Hat Noppharat Thara–Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park, so don’t forget to bring 400 THB in cash for the entrance fee.

Nui Bay

#1 NUI BAY

This gorgeous hidden beach is tucked away on the northeast coast of Phi Phi Don. It’s a stunning stretch of soft white sand, framed by dramatic limestone formations—including one of Phi Phi’s most iconic sights: Camel Rock, which rises proudly from the sea just offshore.

Snorkeling here is fantastic on both sides of the bay, and during low tide, you can even explore a hidden cave nestled in the cliffs.

To get to Nui Bay, you can rent a private boat, paddle out by kayak, or hike through the jungle—but be warned, the hiking trail is unmarked and wild, so it’s only for those with good orientation skills and a real sense of adventure.
